Arrival to Salamanca, excursion to Segovia and Avila.

Upon arriving to Madrid we met up with the rest of the students from NAU and took a bus to Salamanca. The bus was about 2 hours, but the landscape along the way was so pretty. It was hills and hills of green pasture. I stayed in a residence hall in Salamanca, close to the school. This year is the school's 800th anniversary, so it was a great summer to visit. I took three classes; grammar, culture and history. My teachers were great and very insightful as to the Spanish lifestyle. The first weekend we went to Avila and Segovia. In Segovia we saw the aqua duct that was built by the Romans and is still standing. In between the stones there is no cement! It is just stone on stone on stone. There was also a castle that Walt Disney used as the inspiration for Cinderella. We also visited the Cathedral of the city. In Avila we walked along the wall built for war years ago, and is still in great shape. These were two very pretty cities and a great way to start off my Study Abroad!
